About

Award-winning composer Felicity Handreck has been described as an artist with “rare natural ability and curiosity”. Originally from the Western District of Victoria, Felicity moved to Brisbane in 2025 to commence a Bachelor of Music at The University of Queensland where she studies composition under Professor Paul Dean, having previously studied under Kym Dillon.

Early this year, Felicity was selected as a composition participant in the 2026 Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp where her composition Exploration of the Mind was debuted at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. She was also commissioned by Ensemble Q to write a nocturne Moths in the Streetlight which was premiered at the 2026 Ensemble Q concert ‘Step Inside the Music’.

In 2022, Felicity was nominated in the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards Film/Media Scoring (Youth Division). Her entry showed “early talent and potential in the screen-scoring field,” with moments of her music being compared to John Lunn's score to Downton Abbey.

With Ravel as her greatest inspiration, much of Felicity’s music is deeply driven by French Romantic music. Felicity is fascinated by the soundscapes found within Ravel’s music and often seeks to incorporate this 3D sound world into her own. That said, she is also excited to explore further genres, and continue reinventing her composition style. Felicity also enjoys writing choral, pop and film music.
